Hey everyone,

I’m excited to share one of my most profitable micro-campaigns to date. This case study revolves around a Dating CPA (SOI) offer promoted using CPM-based Popunder traffic, specifically targeting Facebook browser users on Android. If you’ve been looking for a high-ROI angle using affordable traffic, this one’s for you.

Let’s break it all down.

Campaign Overview

  • Ad Network: Adsterra
  • Traffic Type: Popunder
  • Pricing Model: CPM (Cost Per 1,000 Impressions)
  • Offer Type: SOI (Single Opt-In) Dating
  • Device Targeting: Android only
  • Browser Targeting: Facebook browser
  • GEOs: Started with Italy, later expanded to Spain, US, UK, and Australia
  • Campaign Dates: June 8 – June 19
  • Total Ad Spend: $43.09
  • Total Earnings: $247.23
  • ROI: ~474.42%

Strategy & Setup

1. Picking the Right Offer

The campaign began with a straightforward Dating SOI offer that allowed multi-geo traffic and mobile-only targeting. These offers tend to convert well on Popunder traffic when paired with engaging creatives and aggressive targeting.

2. Leveraging Facebook Browser Targeting

Not many marketers talk about this, but Adsterra allows you to specifically target traffic coming from the Facebook in-app browser. This segment of users tends to have higher intent, better CTR, and strong conversions—especially on dating and adult-adjacent verticals.

3. Platform Segmentation

To keep costs low and conversions high, I restricted the campaign to Android users only. Not only is Android traffic more affordable, but it's also more abundant across Tier 2 and Tier 3 GEOs.

Traffic Estimation & Bid Strategy

Adsterra’s interface shows traffic volume estimates for your selected targeting and bid levels. This feature helped me plan more efficiently by showing whether the GEO/device/browser combination I chose had enough volume.

I used recommended bids in most GEOs to ensure traffic delivery. For more competitive markets or when volume seemed low, I manually increased the bid slightly to avoid delivery issues.

GEO Expansion Plan

I started the campaign in Italy to test the waters. It performed well right out of the gate—so I moved on to Spain, which also showed good metrics.

After validating performance, I scaled cautiously into Tier 1 regions like the US, UK, and Australia. Each GEO got its own campaign, allowing me to analyze and optimize performance independently.

This segmentation approach helped me:

  • Identify which countries were most profitable
  • Adjust bids per GEO
  • Cut underperformers fast

Optimization in Action

While this campaign wasn't overly complex, I applied the fundamentals:

  • Paused non-converting GEOs early
  • Adjusted bids based on traffic estimates and performance
  • Monitored I2C (Impressions to Conversion) rate closely

Even though Popunder traffic doesn’t show CTR, I tracked conversions using a basic tracker and saw solid I2C rates of 3.5%–4%, confirming the setup was effective.

The Final Numbers

  • Ad Spend: $43.09
  • Revenue: $247.23
  • Net Profit: $204.14
  • ROI: 474.42%

This wasn’t a huge-budget campaign—but for the time and money invested, the return was more than worth it. The key takeaway? Even small tests can produce major insights and profits when the offer, traffic, and targeting line up well.

Key Takeaways for You

  • Facebook browser traffic is still underused and highly effective for dating offers.
  • Android-only targeting can help you keep costs low and volume high.
  • Use traffic estimation tools to make sure your targeting combo has sufficient volume before launching.
  • Segment campaigns by GEO to optimize efficiently and avoid wasting budget.
  • Even with small budgets, high ROI is very achievable if you test smart and scale gradually.

If you’re running dating SOI offers or other mobile-friendly verticals, give this method a shot. You don’t need to spend thousands to find a winning combo—just a solid angle and smart targeting.

Hope this helps someone out there! Let me know if you have questions or want to dig deeper into any part of the setup.

Cheers!
