Hi everyone,
After experiencing a failure in my offline business, I took some time to reflect on what I wanted to do next. For about a month, I’ve been immersing myself in the world of affiliate marketing. I’m completely new to this space, but the more I learn, the more I realize it’s something I really want to try.
Today marks a big milestone — I’ve just launched my very first campaign. This Follow Along will be my way of documenting everything, from the setup to the results, including all the lessons I pick up along the way.
My Setup
Traffic Source: Search Ads (Bing + Google Ads)
Vertical: Internet Services (going direct to the offer)
Payout: $6.50 per conversion
Spy Tools: I’m keeping costs low at the moment, so I’m using a combination of proxy browsing and SpyFu’s free trial to research competitors.
Tracking Software: Bemob
Since I’m new to affiliate marketing and not yet confident with advanced tracking and optimization, I’ve decided to keep things as simple and focused as possible.
Budget & Strategy
I’m working with a small budget, so my approach will be cautious. I’m focusing on just one offer at a time. The plan is:
If the campaign spends up to 8 times the payout without generating a single conversion, I’ll either switch the niche or test a different GEO.
I’m avoiding spreading my resources too thin. I’d rather get good data from one offer than run multiple campaigns poorly.
For me, the first goal is not profit — it’s learning. If I can understand how to run, track, and optimize a campaign properly, I can build from there.
Why Search Ads?
I decided to start with search ads because I feel they are more beginner-friendly in terms of targeting. People searching for a product or service are already showing intent, which should help with conversions. Plus, I can learn about keyword targeting, ad copywriting, and bidding strategies all in one go.
Challenges I Expect
Tracking: Since I’m not yet confident with tracking setups, there’s a risk of missing or misreading data. I’ll be taking my time to get it right.
Budget Management: With limited funds, every click matters. I’ll need to monitor closely and avoid wasting spend on irrelevant traffic.
Competitor Research: Without a paid spy tool, my competitor analysis will be slower and less detailed. I’ll have to get creative in how I find and use that information.
Today – Day 0
A few minutes ago, I clicked “Enable” on my first campaign. The ads are live, and now it’s time to gather data and see what happens. I’m both excited and nervous — but no matter what, this is the start of my affiliate marketing journey.
I know my English isn’t perfect, but I hope my updates will still be clear enough for you to follow along. Any advice, tips, or feedback would be very welcome.
Here’s to the first step.
