Hey everyone,I’ve finally decided to take the leap and launch my very first Facebook Ads campaign. I’ve been lurking in this community for a while now, soaking up all the knowledge I can about paid ads, funnels, creatives, and split testing. Now it’s time to get my hands dirty and actually do the work.
This thread will serve as a personal follow-along for my campaign. I’ll document everything—what’s working, what’s failing, the lessons I’m learning along the way, and the data I’m collecting. Hopefully, this can help someone else who’s just getting started with Facebook Ads too.
The Offer
I’m promoting a weight loss capsule, positioned as a slimming aid with natural ingredients. It’s a health-related offer, and the angle I’m using leans toward lifestyle transformation rather than aggressive “miracle cure” messaging. Since it’s a sensitive niche, I’m being careful about compliance and the wording used in both the copy and the creatives.
Creative Testing Phase (Week 1)
I kicked off the campaign with 5 different creatives, each paired with a unique ad copy. My goal right now is not to drive conversions immediately, but to test and validate which combinations resonate the most with the audience.
Here’s how I structured it:
- Daily Budget: $15 per day
- Test Duration: 4 days (initial run)
- Ad Set Targeting: Broad interest-based audience, mostly health-conscious women aged 25–45
- Objective: Website conversions (eventually), but right now I'm more focused on CTR and engagement
Initial Results
After running for 4 days, here’s what I’ve seen:
- Out of the 5 ad variations, 3 are performing significantly better than the others.
- These 3 ads all have CTR above 9%, which I think is a promising signal that the messaging is clicking.
- However, the CPM is around $65, which feels quite high to me at this stage, especially considering I haven’t made a sale yet.
No conversions yet—but I expected that. The purpose of this first phase is to identify the winning creative-copy combo, not scale or break even.
Early Takeaways
- High CTR, High CPM: While I’m happy with the engagement, the CPM suggests that either my audience targeting is off or Facebook is penalizing me for ad relevance or landing page experience. I may need to test different audiences soon.
- No Sales Yet: That’s okay for now, but once I lock in the top-performing creative, I’ll need to revisit the landing page and conversion flow.
- Creative Matters: The top 3 creatives all use emotion-driven copy with real-life scenarios and visuals. The ones that flopped were more generic.
Next Steps
- Pause the two underperforming ads
- Duplicate and test the top 3 creatives with new variations of headlines
- Explore a new audience segment for ad set testing
- Begin prepping the landing page for optimization—possibly introduce testimonials, adjust headline placement, and add a stronger CTA
I’m taking it slow but steady. The idea is to build a process I can eventually replicate and scale, not chase random wins.
I'll update this thread weekly with progress reports, data insights, and what I'm changing along the way. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome—I’m here to learn and grow.
Stay tuned!
