The FTC expects anyone using affiliate links in social media posts to clearly say that they might earn a commission if someone buys through their link. This applies to places like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and even in short posts like tweets. The disclosure needs to be easy to notice, not hidden in a comment or buried under hashtags. A simple note like “affiliate link” or “I may earn from this” is often enough if it’s placed near the link or the product mention. It also needs to be clear even when someone is quickly scrolling. Following these rules helps protect both the seller and the buyer. Have you come across any posts where it was hard to tell if it was a paid link or not?
