Hey everyone,

I thought it would be fun—and hopefully useful—to share one of my current campaigns with you. I’m treating this as a proper follow-along so we can track the progress, optimizations, and lessons learned together.

Campaign Setup

I decided to dive into banner ads for this one. I know, I know—some people see them as “old-school,” but I wanted to put them to the test and see if I could make them profitable. Here’s my setup:

  • Ad Type: Banner Ads
  • Traffic Source: Avazue DSP
  • Vertical: Sweepstakes (Sweeps)
  • Tracker: Bemob
  • Affiliate Network: MaxBounty

I picked two Sweeps offers that looked promising in terms of payout and targeting options. To support them, I created multiple landing pages and a variety of banner creatives. I wanted to give myself enough variations to see what clicks with my audience (literally).

Initial Launch

The ads went live, and I eagerly started watching the tracker to see how the numbers would shape up. My hope was to get a decent CTR from the banners and let the landing pages do the heavy lifting to drive conversions.

Unfortunately, reality had other plans.

The Results So Far

The click numbers were… okay. But when it came to actual leads, the results were disappointing. Even with multiple creatives and different landing page angles, the leads just weren’t rolling in.

In short: Bad results.

It’s definitely a bit demoralizing when you’ve put hours into designing banners, setting up LPs, and configuring the tracking, only to get a trickle of conversions (or none at all). But that’s the game we’re in—sometimes you strike gold right away, and other times you have to dig a lot deeper.

What’s Next?

I’m not throwing in the towel just yet. Here’s my plan moving forward:

  1. Optimize Creatives – I’ll analyze CTR across different banner designs to see which ones are worth scaling and which to cut.
  2. Adjust Targeting – Banner ads can be very sensitive to targeting tweaks. I might narrow down demographics, devices, or placements.
  3. Landing Page Testing – If people are clicking but not converting, the LP might need stronger copy, a clearer CTA, or faster load speed.
  4. Bid Strategy Review – Sometimes you’re just paying for the wrong impressions. I’ll see if adjusting bids helps me reach a more responsive audience.

Final Thoughts (For Now)

Banner ads can be tricky, especially in competitive verticals like Sweeps. But part of why I’m sharing this is because I know others have been in this situation—and some of you have turned campaigns around from exactly this point.

I’ll be updating this thread with every change I make, every improvement I (hopefully) see, and every lesson learned along the way.

Sometimes the best insights come from campaigns that don’t go as planned.

Let’s see if I can turn this one around. Stay tuned.

If you want, I can also prepare the first update post in the same engaging style so you have a ready-to-go continuation for your thread. That way, it feels like a real-time follow-along rather than just a single post.
